365 Cards - Day 31 - I'm rounding the corner!

Yay!!!!!
I have completed the whole month of challenges at 365 Cards!!

Todays challenge is rounded corners. We would like to see all smooth edges - no sharp corners. Other than that, anything goes.

So here is my take on this challenge

I cut an oval window on the front of my card and added a piece of acetate to the inside of this. I printed the owls twice and mounted the full image onto an oval of card which has been attached to the inside of the card, I cut just the Owls from the second image and stuck these onto the acetate on the outside along with another sentiment.

Hopefully this picture will make sense of all that!

Papers are from a pack of Colossal Papers from Papermania called Simply Elegant. These along with some ribbons, flowers and a stamp are the blog candy I won on Cathy's blog; Ellieskeeper's Creations so a huge Thank You to cathy for my parcel, it was a lovely gesture.

Hope you like it

My 100th Post and a Blog Challenge

Well would you believe this is my 100th post since I started this blog in October last year, I never believed I would ever have a blog let alone make so many new friends who want to come along daily to see what I have posted.

So to all of my blogging friends I would like to say a huge 'Thank You' for coming along and leaving such lovely comments, its the time you spend and thoughtfulness that makes it all worth while.

I was hoping this post would be to tell you all that my new Grandson has arrived but alas that is not to be, Mum is going in to be induced if baby isn't here by Monday so I will keep you posted.

Anyway onto today's proper post, it is day 28 on 365 Cards and I have to say my box is filling up nicely even though I have used some of the cards I have made for recent Birthdays.

Today's challenge is called Scraplift yourself.

If you are also a scrapbooker, then this is definitely a challenge for you. Take a layout that you've done, and translate it into a card. Share the layout and the card with us so we can see your source of inspiration.

Here is the layout I used for inspiration, it is a LO I did of my Hubby, the photo's were taken on a recent holiday to Italy, I wanted to make the LO because in the 25 years we have been together this was only the second time we had been away without the kids, we went to Lake Garda and visited Venice, it was a fantastic holiday and this Lo reminds me of it everyday as it sits on the unit in my office in front of my PC.

And here is my card based on the LO, it is going to be given to my Hubby on our Wedding Anniversary in July, I have made it a little more personal by adding a ring pull from one of his beer cans and the bottle top incorporated in the flower.

Wow that was a long post, hope you didn't get bored before the end!!

365 Cards and Friday Sketchers

Well it is Day 27 on 365 Cards and today the theme is 'Touchy, Feely Friday'

This one is all about texture. Try to incorporate 3 different methods of adding texture to the paper on your card. This can be done using wet and/or dry embossing, distressing, or anything else you can think of.
I also wanted to use this sketch from the Friday Sketchers #45 Challenge
It isn't an exact copy of the sketch but my take on it
This is what I came up with

My 3 types of distressing are the torn and inked edge to the Fawn card, the white card has been embossed using my Swiss dots folder which was inked in Dark Blue first then I hole punched some of the dots out with my cropodile to mimic the water. I also have a layer of inked sand paper along the bottom to mimic the sea bed.
Hopefully you will see it all better in this picture.

Hope you like it
This is my 99th post on this blog and hopefully my 100th one will be to say my Grandson has finally made an apearance since he was due on the 16th March, fingers crossed!!

One Card for 3 Challenges!!

I always feel as though I am cheating a little when I combine challenges but this one just happened that way.

I started to make a card following this sketch by Dawny on Papertake Weekly that I was going to combine with today's challenge on 365 Cards 'Colour me anything but that' the idea is to make a card using your least favourite colour, for card making my least favourite is purple, I never quite know what to do with it.

I then realised that my card also fitted in with the challenge on Cute Card Thursday which is to make a card for a Family Member

So here is my card which follows the sketch, uses my least favourite colour and is for a Family member.

I used Bazzill (Velvet) for the card base which had a piece of the purple diamond pattern laid onto it, the paper is English Paper Co.

I then used a piece of fabric; which I thought looked as though it would be used for a mans suit; to make the next layer followed by my stamped image which was matted onto the Velvet Bazzill.
The sentiment is computer generated and is layered onto Dark Brown imitation Leather and fastened by brads.

I must admit that having made this I will possibly use this colour again

Hope you like it!

Creative Belli Blog Challenge #60 - Bookmarks

For this challenge I wanted to make a special card with the Bookmark as part of the embellishment on it.

I chose to use some double sided cardstock I had for this as it has such a beautiful pattern to it. I also wanted quite a meaningful sentiment to go on the card and not use an image.

The bookmark itself I wanted to keep quite plain as thats the bit that will get all the wear and tear and I wanted the recipient to be able to use it without too much worry.

Here is what I came up with

Hope you like it

365 Cards - Day 25 - Ad Inspired

Another Ad inspired challenge on 365 Cards today but this time we all have to use this ad chosen by DT member Kristie instead of finding our own, a little mix up last time I think.

A great choice of colours to work with here. For my own card I chose a stamp and stamped the backgound papers so they matched although I only used the flower head on the background.
Here is my card
I chose a black card which I love to use, I do love any colour with black it makes it so striking.
I cut a square of white card slightly smaller than the card and stamped this using the flower stamp in a Dark Plum.
I then layered some Willow coloured paper onto black again stamped which is stamped with the same image but using Olive Green.
Lastly I have used both colours to stamp the full image onto white card which is again layered onto Black.
I tied a Black thin string around my card and added beads to the ends. A circular sentiment again mounted onto Black.
Hope you like it

365 Cards - Day 24 - Set the Scene!

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is to make a card that sets a scene, a nature scene.

Not a terribly easy card to make but that's what these blog challenges are all about, stretching you to go in directions you wouldnt normally go.

I had a lovely picket fence which was a freebie; I downloaded from a digi site although I dont remember which one so I am afraid I cant give the credit here for this; this is where my inspiration for this card started. The bird house is from Pink Petticoat and the rest was from my stash.

Hope you like it

A Spoon Full of Sugar and Friday Sketchers

This is the Sketch for this weeks challenge on the Friday Sketchers blog, I have to admit I have turned this around a bit. I started with this sketch and soon realised that it fits this weeks challenge on A Spoon Full of Sugar which is Easter, so I am entering it for both challenges.

For this card I have used mainly bits and pieces I have already cut down for other projects along with a few embellishments I had in my stash, I love it when you can make something out of bits and bobs.
I wanted to make the main focus a saying rather than an image and found this one on the Internet so I typed it onto my Label programme and messed about with it a bit.
The Easter basket was coloured with my watercolours, I have had this for a while and cant remember where it was from. The ribbon was from my stash also.
Hope you like it

Cupcake Craft Challenge 32 - Monsters!

The challenge at Cupcake Crafts this week is Monsters, not scary ones mind!

I really had to think for this one but managed to find this Dinosaur which I think is rather cute

Green Paper is Junkitz left from a card I made earlier, the bottom of the card has a layer of some threaded mulberry paper I found in my stash. I used a fern leaf stamp to add some detail to the top, it's supposed to resemble a hanging tree!!

A knotted piece of fabric to the left side is balanced by the 3 Mother of Pearl buttons.

I coloured the image with watercolours and added the Blue felt letters.

Hope you like it!

365 Cards - Day 23 - Crossword Connection

Today's challenge was to use this printable crossword in your design, I don't know why but as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to use an arrow with this.

I am not sure I actually like this now it is done, dont you hate it when something in your head doesnt turn out as planned?

Oh well, I am sure I will find a use for it!

365 Cards - Day 22 - Super Sketch Sunday

Sunday at 365 Cards brings another Sketch and this is the one for this challenge

I wanted to do Girly but not Pink for this sketch so I chose papers from the Junkitz Friends collection. I used the Friends Stripe to cover the card and a strip of Friends Grass stains down the centre I then added a piece of Denim tied in a knot, a few flowers and a circle tag that says 'Happy Birthday' held on with a little peg.

Hope you like it

Colour Create wk 8 - Navy, Turquoise and Lime

This is the inspiration for the challenge on Colour Create this week, the challenge has been has been created by Sarita.
For this week's extra option they would like you to create your card or project without using any design papers!! thats a challenge in itself.
So, not one of the best cards I have made but here it is anyway

At least I got all the colours in there and no papers!

365 Cards - Day 21 - Sing along saturday

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is 'Sing along Saturday'

This one is just what it sounds like - create a card inspired by this song:

Excerpt from Lean on Me, by Bill Withers:

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

You know the song

Well here is my card

Hope you like it

365 Cards - Day 20 - Inside out!

This is a great challenge on 365 Cards, you have to make a card that is primarily embellished on the inside with a sentiment.
Here is the outside of my card-

and here is the inside of my card-

I used my pc to print off the lilac coloured paper and then added the flower stems in word art, cut the circle where the flower was going to be with my circle punch and added the other flowers on top of the stems. The piece of ribbon was from my stash which is balanced by the 3 pink gems in the bottom corner.

Hope you like it
