365 Cards - Day 61 and ABC - L is for List

Ok second post today, I have to admit this isnt nearly as good as the project I posted this morning.
My card today is for 2 challenges, the first is for 365 Cards - Day 61 - 'Leaf it up to me'
So today's challenge is to put a leaf (or two or three) on your card. Stamp it, draw it, cut it out, use an image or the real thing, but there must be at least one leaf on your card
The second challenge is ABC Challenge - L is for List
We would like to see the following contained somewhere on your card or project.

1 ribbon
3 flowers
6 brads
Here is my card

A quite simple card but the sentiment is the feature of this card, it reads
"The Friends we meet on the path of life make the trip worthwhile"
I love the words on this card so much I want to 'Send' it to all my new friends in blogland who inspire me everyday with their kind and thoughtful comments on the cards and projects I post on here daily.
I hope you enjoy this card!

Paper Blooms #5 - Inspiration and....

... something to cheer my Daughter up as she is poorly!

My poor Sarah has Tonsillitus which isn't unusual but she had her Tonsills out about 2 years ago so to help cheer her up I decided to use this challenge to make something for her bedroom.

The challenge at Paper Blooms this week was to take inspiration from this picture of Leah's dishes, they say vintage and Laura Ashley to me so I got out my K & Co. Hannah papers and set to it.

This is what I made her

Not the best picture so here is each piece in more detail

Cameron is Sarah's Boyfriend

Dean is Sarah's Brother, my Husband and I only have Dean and Sarah together

and this is her 'Daddy'

I took a selection of photo's that were taken at the weddings of each of our 3 sons and printed them quite small, most of the photo's were of her as a Bridesmaid.

I took 2 squares of Acetate and puched a hole at each side at both top and bottom, the heart is wood and as luck had it I already had this cut out so I painted it with Ivory Laura Ashley paint and covered it with paper, edged all round with a gold Krylon pen.

I decorated the heart and each piece of Acetate with papers, flowers and computer generated sentiment, added the photo's and tied the whole thing together with Ribbons.

If you haven't been across to Paper Blooms yet you really should go and have a look, its quite a new challenge blog but the DT work is fab and they have had some great challenges so far, go on take a look, have a go, its always good to try something new.

Well Sarah has just got up and she loves it, so I am glad it has made her feel a little happier, hope you like it too!

365 Cards - Day 60 - Say What!!

What a fun challenge they have today at 365 Cards, you need to use the sentiment 'What' either on the outside or inside of the card, as soon as I saw it I knew which image I was going to use.
Here is my card
and the inside

Simple but to the point I think!
Today I also want to have a look at the challenge on Paper Blooms, it is a relatively new challenge blog but so far they have had some great challenges and you dont even need to use Leah's gorgeous blooms to enter I would if I had any as they are yummy. If you are looking for a new challenge why not pop in and take a look for yourself

365 Cards - Day 59 and Card Patterns Sketch 12

This is the sketch for this weeks Card Patterns challenge # 12, this is the first time I have entered this challenge but I liked the sketch so I thought I would have a go.

I am using this sketch to make a card which will also double for the challenge on 365 cards

Todays challenge on 365 Cards is 'A Certain Sentiment' the object is to use a sentiment you wouldnt normally use so you have different cards for unexpected occasions.

Today's sentiment is 'I Miss You' or something similar

Here is my card

I took a white base card and layered it with PP from DCWV Wedding stack, added the next layer which is SU card in Lavender lace. I cut a strip of another PP from the same stack to add on top of the card layer.

I layered my silk flowers and held them together with a brad, positioned one each side of the card leaving a gap between them.

The sentiment was also used by Mandy on her card, she very kindly left the link to the website so I went and downloaded of for myself. Once printed I matted this onto a small piece of the SU card and added it to the bottom of my card.

I used my Cricut to cut a small heart at 1.5" stuck a pearl heart to the top of it and placed it into the gap using 3D pads.

Hope you like it

Another card for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge

Now you cant have a Baby Boys card without making one for a Girl so I made this one in the shape of a Dress with a cute apron as well.

So here is another card for the Secret Crafter challenge #29 Shaped cards.

I have used Bazzill for the Dress and plain White card for the Apron, both have been stamped using my Rubber stamp Tapestry stamps in a combination of SU Jolly Rose, Certainly Celery and Almost Amethyst.
I have added a lace trim and some ribbon to the apron with a couple of pearls to the shoulders.

Hope you like it!

Onsie card to add to my Baby Collection!!

Today I have made a card that covers 2 challenges.

The first is for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge which is to make a shaped card

The second is for Cupcake Craft Challenge which is to use 5 different embellishments

your creation must include 5 DIFFERENT embellishments (not including your card, papers or images!). You can use more than one flower or brad for example, but it will only count once!!!

So here is my card

For the Saturday challenge shape I made a 'Onsie' shaped card and for the cupcake crafts my 5 different embellishments are:-

1. White ribbon and Ric Rac
2. Blue Buttons
3. Blue Eyelets
4. Blue fabric Teddy on pocket
5. White Heart shaped Jewels on sleeves

This card will be added to the collection of items made using these colours to take to show the lady who runs a local baby shop with a view to her selling them for me.

Hope you like it

365 Cards - Day 58 and Papertake weekly challenge

The theme on 365 cards is Something Fishy

Put at least one image of a fish on your card. This can be in the form of a stamp, patterned paper, a hand-drawn image, or anything you can think of.

Also the theme on Papertake Weekly challenge is Spots and Stripes

So here is my card

I used the strip paper at the top of the card to mimic the deck chairs you get at the beach, added spotted paper under that and then the Blue which has been cut to make 'waves'.

The top of the waves have been painted in White Perfect Pearls to add shimmer and the bottom of the Beige card has been painted in Gold.

I cut a small piece of pale Yellow to make a Wind Sock on which to add a sentiment.

The Fish are hand drawn onto Shrink Plastic and coloured in using Sharpie pens, I have added bubbles using Glossy accents.

Papers are all English Paper Co.

Now it's finished I dont really like it but it was the only idea I could come up with using Fish, never mind tomorrow's another challenge!

365 Cards - Day 57 and Colour Create #13

Sunday's challenge on 365 Cards was to create a card using this sketch...
...and I finally got to use some of the beautiful Basic Grey Marrakech Glazed brads I won a few weeks ago on 365 Cards here
Here is my card

This card also fits the bill at Colour Create this week as their theme is Orange, green and Brown with the added option of making a card for a Man, well my card is for fathers day.
I cut a layer of the Caramel and Brown paper just slightly smaller than the 5" x 5" card base, this was mounted onto a square of Bazzill then adhered to the card. I cut the Green paper to 3" x 3" and mounted this onto another square of bazzill, this was added using 3d pads to give it some depth. The ribbon was pleated both ends and fastened using two of the brads and added to the centre of the card. I cut the word 'DAD' from the marigold paper using my Cricut and cut them in the bazzill as a blackout shadow then adhered the two together before centering them down the card. The scalloped pieces sit under the edge of the middle mat and I stuck 3 Jewels onto each side.
Papers - Background - PM Simply Elegant
- Letters - Basic grey Marigold
Card - Bazzill Java
Brads - Basic grey
Jewels from my stash
Ribbon from my stash
Hope you like it !

Folded Flower Tutorial

Here as promised is the instructions for making the folded Flower I added to this card

Please be gentle with me as this is the first tutorial I have done so I hope it all makes sense.

For this to be really effective you need to use double sided paper, not card, the thicker your paper is the harder this will be to get it to look really neat. On my card above I used Double sided card but as I printed it myself it was only on thin card and the other petals are pages from a book I got off the car boot sale for 10p.

To start you need a scalloped circle, I cut mine using my Nestabilities, if you count the scallops mine are an odd number this will make the final folding a little different

Fold your circle in half and firmly crease the fold using either a bone folder or as I do your thumb nail

Now as you will see at one end you will have folded through on of the scallops, this is the side you need to start folding from, count up 6 plus the half scallop and fold so the edges are lined up

Ok so far

Now you need to fold that piece back so the bottom edge now lines up with the side edge

Now turn the whole thing over and fold up so that the bottom edge lines up with the side edge again

Now unfold and cut through the first fold you made

You now have 2 pieces

as you have an odd number of scallops you will need to fold one way and the other piece the other way so they are opposite to each other.
Hope that all makes sense

A whole load of stuff made today for only 2 challenges ... this is a long post!!

I just want to let you know this is going to be quite a long post but there is lots to see so please try to stay with me, maybe some strong coffee to help keep you awake before you start!!

OK first challenge today is for 365 Cards the challenge today is to make a card using acrylic,

Use it as the card base - front, back, or all - otherwise anything goes.

I am not lucky enough to have any fancy acrylic card bases but I did have an empty packet that held rims for my tag maker so I made this into a shaker card to go with the next project I have to show you.

I have some thin acetate so I cut a piece to cover directly behind the storage bit of the packet and used double sided tape to fix 3 sides of it, before sealing the top I tipped some beads, a few ribbon roses, some punched hearts and flowers and a small plastic baby bottle I have had lying around for a while.

I then replaced the card in the back of the packet with pink card added a piece of white and stamped on it using my Rubber stamp Tapestry stamps and a couple of small Baby stamps.

The back has a piece of the spotted and then white with the sentiment printed onto it.

This is a picture to show the side view.

If you haven't played along with the challenges on 365 Cards you really should have a go, we are a really supportive, friendly bunch. We have over 200 followers so some of you must have already seen the blog so now all we need is more of you to join in with us!

OK next project, you will need the coffee now!!!

This is for the challenge on Paper Blooms Challenge #4 Celebrate Earth Day

The challenge is to use something that you'd normally throw away or want to make new again in your project. Recycle packaging, containers, or alter something that you want to spruce up. The sky's the limit on this one!

This is an nearly empty packet that held pencils

This is what it looks like now

From the top

So I have a lovely container that is covered in double sided paper and embellished so i thought I would make a scrapbook to go in it.

It has been made using chipboard sheets that I have covered with the same spotted papers I used to make the card above and the Milk Cartons I made the other day

Still with me so far??

I had to use small, limited embellishments so it would fit in the box once it was finished

Each page has a poem on it and space for a photo, this page is for the scan picture

Details of the Birth
Now all the pages are really general pages so the Parents can choose the photos they want in here.

This page has an acetate sheet that covers the photo

A tag on a ribbon held on with a brad

This one is a pocket to slip the photo into

Lift the top spotted paper to add the photo, the frame is lined with acetate

The poem is printed onto the tag which slides under the photo mat

There is room for an extra photo on the bottom of the tag

Stamped border using my Rubber stamp tapestry stamps

Poem is in a Nestabilities frame

Again the rubber stamp tapestry stamps to make a background

Footprints edge the photo mat

Flowers and jewels embellish the last page
Well I think that's it for tonight, hope you managed to stay awake
Hope you like them all!!
