I am still around

How long has it been since I posted on my blog? Too long and I am sorry but things and life have been hectic as usual.

Well I was really busy with my Niece's wedding, I had a lot of orders for the wedding from different members of the family and most of them to kept as a secret and none of which I have photo's of, I must remember to take pictures of stuff as I make it. Even though it was a busy time I thoroughly enjoyed the wedding, it was a lovely day and nice to be able to relax a while. Thanks to Karen for looking after the shop for me.

So where are we up to now? The shop has been busy first with craft club which has now been extended to 3 sessions a week with a 4th session in the planning stages, then we had father's day with lots of special orders for that.

Then it was time to re-stock with Candy Bouquets, these are a few of the ones we have in stock at the minute

Then the birth of our new Granddaughter to prepare for, Katie Jayne was born on Thursday weighing a healthy 8lb 9oz, Mum and baby are doing fine and both came home yesterday. Well with a new baby it was time to stock up on the baby section so Nappy Cakes were first on the list

This one was made for Katie

These are a few of the others we have in the shop

The items on the Baby section sell out really fast so its a constant battle to keep the shelves stocked. The nappy cakes are really popular with our customers as are the personalised canvases we make

These are a couple I did remember to take photo's of although I have made some for orders which I have no pics of.

So another busy week in the shop but today I shall be enjoying the day off to watch England play, some of the family are coming round for that and we shall be having a BBQ later and just enjoying the sunshine.

COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!

Another card for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge

Now you cant have a Baby Boys card without making one for a Girl so I made this one in the shape of a Dress with a cute apron as well.

So here is another card for the Secret Crafter challenge #29 Shaped cards.

I have used Bazzill for the Dress and plain White card for the Apron, both have been stamped using my Rubber stamp Tapestry stamps in a combination of SU Jolly Rose, Certainly Celery and Almost Amethyst.
I have added a lace trim and some ribbon to the apron with a couple of pearls to the shoulders.

Hope you like it!

Onsie card to add to my Baby Collection!!

Today I have made a card that covers 2 challenges.

The first is for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge which is to make a shaped card

The second is for Cupcake Craft Challenge which is to use 5 different embellishments

your creation must include 5 DIFFERENT embellishments (not including your card, papers or images!). You can use more than one flower or brad for example, but it will only count once!!!

So here is my card

For the Saturday challenge shape I made a 'Onsie' shaped card and for the cupcake crafts my 5 different embellishments are:-

1. White ribbon and Ric Rac
2. Blue Buttons
3. Blue Eyelets
4. Blue fabric Teddy on pocket
5. White Heart shaped Jewels on sleeves

This card will be added to the collection of items made using these colours to take to show the lady who runs a local baby shop with a view to her selling them for me.

Hope you like it

For Baby George and Challenges too!

When my new Grandson Marshall was born a few weeks ago I made him a set of Milk Cartons and filled them with goodies and everyone loved them. My DIL's Cousin and his Wife had a new Baby Boy yesterday and I was asked to make a set for him and a card to match, so here is the set I have made for baby George.

and for the card I made to go with them, I followed this sketch on Cupcake Craft Challenges

So here is my card

I am also entering this card for the this weeks challenge on ABC Challenges which is K is for Keep it Simple and I think this card is quite a simple design.

It also fits the bill for the challenge on Creative Card Crew which is Round and around, their theme is circles and there is spots on the PP and also circles on the Milk Cartons so I am entering both the card and the Milk Cartons for this one.

This is the inside of the card and possibly the one showing the truest colours, the others all look too pink, photography is not my strongest point!

Another photo showing the set of all 4 milk cartons in the tray

and here they are all together

I have been told by my DIL midwife and a few others to take these to 2 local shops to see if they would sell them for me, one is a rather posh shop that sells all manner of different things like East of India, lots of Handmade items as well and the other is a new Baby boutique that has opened in our area recently so I may give that some thought if I can work out how much to charge for them!

So I have made a gift for a new Baby, a beautiful card to go with it and completed 3 challenges as well, not bad for a few hours work.

Hope you like them!

Daring Cardmakers Challenge- It's a patchy one!

The challenge for the Daring card makers this week was Patchwork, you need to make a card that is inspired by patchwork.

My Niece gave birth to a new Baby Girl yesterday so what better use for a patchwork card than for a new baby.

Here is my entry

I have used one of the Sweet Cheeks designs from Pink Petticoat and surrounded it with tiny squares cut from all manner of pretty papers, some faux stitching and a cluster of flowers.

Hope you like it!

A Baby frame

This frame was bought by my DIL from one of the local pound shops. It is one of those that you can make a cast of a hand or foot or paw out of the clay provided and add a photo to the other side.

The frame itself was plain white and my DIL wanted it covered so this is what I have done with it.

The verse has been printed onto vellum and reads:

Tiny yawns and sleepy sighs,
Nursery rhymes and lullabies.
A brand new life has just begun,
what fun it is to have a Son!

Hope you like it!

Blog Challenges again!

To be honest I didnt get much crafting time yesterday as we had family for dinner so after they had all gone home I set about some of the challenges I wanted to do.

This is the sketch for the very first challenge on Truly Scrumptious

Here is my entry

I will also be entering this for the Cute Card Thursday challenge #49 for which the theme is Animals, are Rocking Horses classed as Animals? I think so!

Another card made for challenges

I seem to be on a bit of a roll with this card making now, still not too good at it though.

I have made this card for as I needed another card for when my new Grandson arrives.

The papers I used are from Pink Petticoat, Duck Egg Blue in the Little Dots collection and the pram is also from Pink Petticoat Sweet Cheeks Collection.

I cut the centre of the card using my Nestabilities Labels 1 and added the piece I had cut out to the inside back of the card with a white panel to allow a message to be written.

I added a piece of acetate which had been embossed with the Swiss Dots folder (I only have 2 folders) to the inside and added the pram which has been watercoloured with Perfect pearls in the water to add shimmer. The button is 2 layers, 1 card and the other a piece of embossed acetate and was cut using a circular punch and I added the red by colouring the star on the pram and threading the spotty ribbon through the button.

I have entered it into the

You just need to create something which includes embossed acetate

and...

You need to create a card or project using the colours listed and the extra challenge is Holidays and travel, my card features a pram which I hope is classed as travel!
I am not sure I am allowed to enter the same card for both challenges but as I stand NO chance of winning its no big deal.

... New cards by me!

..not designed by me you understand but made by me at a card class I went to with my DIL Karen.

The lady who was running the class is Tracey, a very talented lady and a Stamping Up demonstrator so all the cards where made from Stamping Up products.

Here are the cards I made:

For my New Grandson when he gets here!

For my Grandson Adam's Birthday which is coming up

This is for my DIL's birthday which is in March
I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and did manage to pick up a few tricks that I can use again, sorry I haven't thanked everyone before but I was feeling quite ill when we went on Saturday and only just starting to feel better now so...

Thanks to everyone who made the afternoon so enjoyable.

I made this!!

today, it is a box of baby announcement cards.

The box measures 4" x 4" and holds the 8 cards along with 8 handmade envelopes, there are 4 of each pictured below.

The cards measure 3" x 3" and have space to fill in the details of the new arrival.
I used Bazzill for the cards and for the box and patterned paper from Making Memories Sam collection for the box lid and to add a mat to the cards.
The blue circles were cut using my Nestabilities and the white circles on my Cricut. The sentiment was stamped and finished with a little polka dot ribbon in brown.
I stamped the little giraffe then water coloured and cut them out, they were mounted using 3D foam pads.
I think these are really cute, what do you think?

At Last I can show you...

...something I have made.

I made this for my very special friend Lorna who has just become a first time Grandmother to Baby Jake.

To be honest i first saw the idea on the internet and it had been made for Christmas, but you know sometimes you see something and an idea pops straight into your head, this was one of those times, it just said 'New Baby' to me so here it is.

I have designed the milk cartons in two parts so they dont have to be opened in the traditional way, the top just slides off.

Two of the cartons have tops made from Bazzill and two have paper tops, each carton is decorated with the paper or card from the opposite carton to continue the theme.

I used Bazzil cardstock - Splash and the paper is from the English Paper Company Garden range called 'Out and about denim'

Each of the boxes were filled with items to go with the teddy bear theme, socks in one, bibs in another then I added a Teddy to the third and lastly a pair of fluffy boots with paw prints on the bottom.
The whole set and its contents..

I gave the set to Lorna at the crop today and everyone loved it, so now they want me to use the idea as a class kit at our weekend crop in April, looking forward to that as they will all have their own take on what it can be used for.

Next project should be completed by tomorrow so watch this space!!

Love
