365 Card Challenge

I found this new Challenge blog the other day whilst spending far too much time Blog hopping and as I have set myself a goal to make most of the family cards this year I thought this could be a good blog to follow.

I have only recently started entering blog challenges so when I saw this I knew I would enjoy it as this challenge is right up my street.
The challenge was to make or alter a box to hold your cards and this is my finished card box.

The tin was something I had lying around in a cupboard but it was just perfect for this. There are 20 dividers in the tin to seperate the different cards but as I only really intend on making cards for Family and Friends this should hold a years worth of cards for me.

I made a decision not to over embellish it because of the handling it will have, you dont want bits falling off it in a few months so it is plain and simple but I like it. I can see this being very handy.

Wedding/ Engagement card

This is my entry for the Colour Create Challenge 4. The theme this week was to create something using the colours Pink and Grey.
These colours say Wedding/ Engagement to me so I sorted out all my wedding type papers and came up with this.
Papers are DCWV wedding stack, mat cut with my Labels 1 Nesties, ribbon was in my box and so were the gems and brad, Flowers are Primas. The 'I Do' was cut on the Cricut.
The sentiment reads:-
It is the passion that is in a kiss that gives it it's sweetness,
it is the affection in a kiss that sanctifies it.
Thanks for looking

Basic Grey Challenge 23 - Colour Combo

This is my entry for the Basic Grey Challenge 23 Colour Combo

You have to pick one of the following 3 colour combinations

Pink and Brown, Blue and Brown, Pink and Green and you must use at least one Basic Grey product.

I am not sure which combination my card falls into as it has all 4 of the colours in it but I will say Blue and Brown.

Papers are Chocolate from Lilly Kate and I think the other is from the Phresh and Phunky range, it was a small piece I had in my odd box.
The oval was cut on the Cricut as was the 'Hi' and I have just added 3 Brown buttons to the top to give it a little depth.

I made this as it is my Daughter's New Boyfriends Birthday tomorrow, she has only been seeing him for a few months so I don't really know him that well yet.

Hope you like it.

Now the Box...

Here is the card I made for the Cute Card Thursday Signs of Spring Challenge but now its in a box to display it.

Close up of the top.
I used the same Bazzill card to make the box and added an Acetate window to the front.
Hope she likes it!!

Cute Card Thursday Card Challenge - Signs of Spring

I have made this for the Card Challenge on Cute Card Thursday, the theme is 'Signs of Spring' I think my card is definately 'Spring Like'

I have wanted to make a pop up card for ages after seeing the one my DIL Karen made a while ago, I thought the idea would be good for this.

This is it folded down to go in the envelope, just to show it will fit into a C6 envelope but I think I may make a box to match the card for this one as its for my Daughters Birthday from her kids and I know she likes to keep the cards from the kids.

Apologies for the terrible pictures but the light is not too good here today.

Items used-

Bazzill card - Chiffon and Key Lime
Card - Lilac printed from Pink Petticoat
Papers - BG Sophie
Image - Pink Petticoat coloured using watercolour pencils
Flowers, ribbon snail and butterfly - from my stash

Still waiting for the BBQ skewers so the next project is on hold for a while so I am off to find another challenge, maybe the Colour Create one next, the theme is Pink and Grey!!

Catch you all later

The box is finished...

Here is the finished box with the cake inside and a closer view of the decoration I added to the lid.

Around the window in the lid I have added Pink 3D paint in dots to highlight the opening, the sides of the lid were decorated with a 2" band of the Java Bazzill which had been edged both top and bottom with my Martha Stewart border punch, onto this I added a length of Cream Grosgrain ribbon and then a length of Pink Ric Rac.

Onto each side I have placed a scalloped circle cut with my nesties first in the Java then smaller in the Morning Glory, onto this is an A for Amy cut with the Cricut again in the java.

The 3 balloons were also cut with the Cricut in different sizes; a girl should have balloons on her Birthday; these were dotted to match the lid and on the Pink Balloon is the number 13. I then just added a few flowers, hearts and another circle with her age on to finish it off.

Her Mum has an idea that she wants me to make for her Birthday so hopefully that will be on here very soon, just need to wait for the BBQ skewers!!!

Hope you like it

I have another award

Its is from my Daughter in Law Karen who has very kindly nominated me for this award.

This is an award for people who always take time out of their busy day to leave a comment on my blog. I haven't been blogging very long but feel thankful to anyone who takes the time to leave a comment, they are so very much appreciated.

The box is made..

I made the box so quickly with the help of my Scorepal and my ATG gun, don't know how I have managed so long without both of them.
The box is made from Bazzill, the base is Java and the top is Morning Glory, I made the window by tracing round the largest of the labels 1 Nestabilities and then cut it out using my craft knife.
Just need to add the pretties now so hopefully this will get finished today!!

Today, I am on a mission.....

A few weeks ago I bought this from a well known auction site...

for my eldest Granddaughter's 13th Birthday, its a beautiful cake made from felt by a very talented lady and believe me when I say it does look good enough to eat.

So now armed with a few supplies and this....

my brand new toy that only arrived yesterday I need to make one of these...

I really want a window in the top so the cake can be seen and it must be pretty so it can be displayed with the cake in it, that way the cake will be protected as well.
I am really now sure how this is going to work as my Card is 12" x 12" and the cake is 7" round, a bit of working out is needed I think, hopefully I will be back later with the finished box.

I also have shopping to do, ironing to do, dinner to prepare, my Grandson to visit as it was his 1st birthday yesterday and a house to view at 12 o'clock, other than that I dont have much on today.

Wish me luck !!!

Another card made for challenges

I seem to be on a bit of a roll with this card making now, still not too good at it though.

I have made this card for as I needed another card for when my new Grandson arrives.

The papers I used are from Pink Petticoat, Duck Egg Blue in the Little Dots collection and the pram is also from Pink Petticoat Sweet Cheeks Collection.

I cut the centre of the card using my Nestabilities Labels 1 and added the piece I had cut out to the inside back of the card with a white panel to allow a message to be written.

I added a piece of acetate which had been embossed with the Swiss Dots folder (I only have 2 folders) to the inside and added the pram which has been watercoloured with Perfect pearls in the water to add shimmer. The button is 2 layers, 1 card and the other a piece of embossed acetate and was cut using a circular punch and I added the red by colouring the star on the pram and threading the spotty ribbon through the button.

I have entered it into the

You just need to create something which includes embossed acetate

and...

You need to create a card or project using the colours listed and the extra challenge is Holidays and travel, my card features a pram which I hope is classed as travel!
I am not sure I am allowed to enter the same card for both challenges but as I stand NO chance of winning its no big deal.

Cuttlebug Challenge - Mellow Yellow!

I don't normally enter for any challenges as I don't class myself as a card maker but I have a few I thought I would have a go at.

This is the first one, its for Betty Bee's challenge on the Cuttlebug Challenge blog and the theme is 'Mellow Yellow'

I chose to do an Easter card with this Rabbit image I have had on my PC for a while, not even sure where its from; I think its a colouring picture I saved for one of the kids.

I took a square card and stamped the greeting on the bottom and then added the bouncing dots. I next added the green spotted paper which is from my scrap box after edging with my Martha Stewart punch then layered the yellow which has also been edged the same then been run through the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I added the ribbon between the layers and tied it to the side.

The rabbit was watercoloured and has 3D foam to fix it to the card, he is holding some rather droopy flowers which have small crystals in the centres.

Hope you like it!

Six of Six...

I have just been doing my nightly blog reading as I went down my list I got to Toni's blog; my world...sort of. The post I read said she had been tagged by someone and she had to find the 6th album in her picture files and then the 6th picture in that album.

Toni was supposed to pass this one, here is what she wrote

"After having a flit around the blogs I visit, most of the folk I would have liked to send this to have already received it so instead - if you happen to be visiting here and would like a little challenge, please find the "6th of 6th" and if you post it in you blog let me know as I'd like to come visit and see what you found in your piccie files...............

Well here is my 6 of 6

It is my Hubby with our Grandson Morgan exploring my Christmas tree, this photo was taken Christmas 2007 and Morgan was just 2 years old and was totally fascinated with the whole Christmas thing.

Whats your 6 of 6?

I have been given an Award!!!

By my good friend Lorna. Take a look at her blog, her work is just gorgeous.

I have only known Lorna for just under 2 years but it seems like we have been friends forever, she is really what I would call a true friend as she is always there when you NEED someone to pour your feelings out to, good or bad, So Thank You Lorna I really do appreciate our friendship.

These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbon of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers.

Now I need to pass it on to others so I would like to pass this on to

Enfys ~ Going Buggy

Karen ~ Karens cards from the heart

Tracey ~ My own little corner of the web

Rachel ~ Daydreams

Step up to collect your award Ladies

Another picture frame...

I wanted to show you the other picture frame I have altered, I bought 2 of these frames from a car boot sale last summer for 50p each.

Nothing special and a rather unusual colour but a bargain I couldn't walk past at that price.

This is what I have done with it

I covered the frame with paper from the Creative Imaginations Antique Cream range which was cut so that the scroll was in the bottom corner, I then added a piece of Black Grosgrain ribbon down the side and tied it in a knot, popped Metal embellishment that mimics a flower at the top and that was it done.

Hope you like it, the lady it was for did!

A busy day...

Just a very quick post today!

This afternoon the estate agents are coming to do the photos, floor plans etc to put my house up for sale so I have been busy tidying up the house including my craft room ready for them to come after lunch, not an easy job I can tell you, we collect so much clutter.

I cant believe this is really happening, its been a difficult decision to make as my Daughter isn't happy about moving even though we are only going 4 miles up the road but we have fell in love with the house we want to buy even though it wants so much work doing to it. Fingers crossed it doesn't sell too quick or that my house does.

Off to hoover round then I can relax a bit.

My Little Valentine...

I spend far too much time on my PC Blog hopping instead of actually crafting but when I came across this challenge at Pink Petticoat I just had to have a go at it.

I had been racking my brains for a gift for my hubby and as I don't like the hype that goes off in the shops with these occasions my first thought was to decorate a jar and add notes as to why I loved him, but when I saw these little beauties I knew they were perfect so I decided to make these instead.

I made 12 which is the number associated with Valentines, Red Roses etc. Each one has one of the little cards inside with a reason why I love him and a chocolate heart.

I chose 3 colour schemes from the Little Dots paper range, Willow and Sage, Ocean and Duck Egg and Chocolate and Stone. Each was printed with the plain co-ordinating colour on the inside, I followed the instructions that Liz has added to her Blog, they were so easy to make.

The coloured circles were cut from the remaining papers with the white ones computer generated on a label programme, the outside ring reads 'Reasons why I Love you' and the inside ring is just ~ X ~ repeated to form a circle. I cut the white circles using my small scalloped circle nestabilities and the coloured ones were cut on my old sizzix. I finished them off with a string tie both top and bottom.

I then showed off my little Valentines boxes to my Daughter Sarah and she got me to make a set of them for her, for these she chose the colour Crimson and Black, I printed both papers in that colour from the Little Dots range plus the Crimson in the Pretty Doodles range as well.

Here are Sarah's collection made exactly the same way I just changed the colours on the labels to black.

So thats what kept me busy yesterday. I am so pleased with the finished result, I hope the men in our lives are!!

Today is also my eldest Son's birthday, I know he doesn't read this blog but 'Happy Birthday' to Wayne, he is 33 today!

... New cards by me!

..not designed by me you understand but made by me at a card class I went to with my DIL Karen.

The lady who was running the class is Tracey, a very talented lady and a Stamping Up demonstrator so all the cards where made from Stamping Up products.

Here are the cards I made:

For my New Grandson when he gets here!

For my Grandson Adam's Birthday which is coming up

This is for my DIL's birthday which is in March
I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and did manage to pick up a few tricks that I can use again, sorry I haven't thanked everyone before but I was feeling quite ill when we went on Saturday and only just starting to feel better now so...

Thanks to everyone who made the afternoon so enjoyable.
